The athletics relay is a speed test contested by teams, where runners pass a baton over a pre-determined distance, passing a baton from hand to hand. The most common distances are 4x100 meters and 4x400 meters, each team member runs 100 meters before passing the baton to the next runner. In the 4x400 meter relay, each runner covers 400 meters before passing the baton. Success depends on the synchronization of baton passes, the speed of the runners and a good running strategy...
